Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

Sepsis remains a global health challenge and a leading cause of mortality, particularly among vulnerable populations such as children. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized sepsis as a priority due to its high mortality rates and the significant burden it places on healthcare systems worldwide. Children, especially newborns and infants, are at increased risk due to their immature immune systems and difficulty in early diagnosis. The long-term impact on survivors, including developmental delays and chronic health issues, further emphasizes the need for improved management and prevention strategies. Despite advancements in care, sepsis continues to present significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

This special issue aims to explore the latest advancements in sepsis research, with a special focus on pediatric sepsis, while also addressing the broader challenges of diagnosing and managing sepsis across all age groups. By highlighting innovations in clinical care and research, we hope to advance strategies that improve survival and quality of life for all sepsis patients, especially children.

We welcome a diversity of articles, such as conceptual and empirical articles, reviews, critical comments, and meta-analyses, for submission to this Special Issue. We will accept manuscripts from different disciplines, addressing topics related to the scope.
