Dear Colleagues,

The world is facing a number of interconnected challenges, including climate change, inequality, and resource scarcity. These challenges require scholars, environmentalists and governments to rethink the way to produce and consume goods and services, and the way to organize work and society to achieve sustainability.

A sustainable economy is one that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is an economy that is built on renewable resources, that is efficient in its use of resources, and that distributes its benefits equitably. Further, human resources are the people who make up the workforce. They are the engine of the economy, and their skills and knowledge are essential for economic growth and development.

Human resources play a critical role in the transition to a sustainable economy. Employees have the skills, knowledge, and creativity to develop and implement new sustainable business practices. They also have the power to influence consumer behaviour and to hold businesses accountable for their environmental and social impacts. More so, they promote social justice and equity in a sustainable economy. This includes things like ensuring that everyone has access to education and employment opportunities.

The relationship between the sustainable economy and human resources is complex and multifaceted. On the one hand, a sustainable economy requires a skilled and adaptable workforce. On the other hand, human resources can play a key role in driving the transition to a sustainable economy.
